Another wasted life.

With the information from the report, it is hard to say why she crashed into the tree.

But to demolish a pickup like seen needs "speed to the limit", so to say.

not sure what science the police were using about speed and 20m skid, the obvious indication is the damage to the truck of a high speed impact

RIP, another life wasted on Thailand roads

RIP. While individuals need to show a bit of sense and responsibility, good part of the blame goes to police for not enforcing traffic laws and perhaps sham of licensing. "A rule not enforced ceases to be a rule".

Wow, that is a truly demolished vehicle. RIP to the driver, I guess she died quickly.

Driver training is something Thais need badly. Get a wet skid pan set up. Just to give them an idea of what actually happens when you skid on a wet road (not saying the road was wet in this case), Most drivers would gain some useful insight on a skid pan. And maybe alter their behaviour.

20 metre skid marks - presumably before the truck hit the tree - which implies she either saw the tree coming or something else entered her field of vision - another vehicle cutting in? A human being walking across the road? An animal?

Only two possibilities given the fact that Trees do not run/walk into the road...

1. she lost control of the vehicle due to driving too fast or lack of driver training, more probably both.

2. Or someone or something was in the road and she took evasive action, but she was driving too fast or lacked driver training, more probably both.

I'd be willing to bet there was a mobile phone involved

Or woke up?

A lot of near misses (and non misses) on that road at the moment, they made a wonderful job of resurfacing it but until they paint the lines on it some people have no clue where the middle of the road is!

Nothing to see here , just statistics.
