Does anyone know where I can buy some high quality security cameras?

Preferable a company that can speak English and explain to me the options. Would like to see the cameras on my phone real-time through the internet.

I had a look at some CCTV shops here, but I did not really understand them, I don't speak Thai and they could barely speak any English.

They didn't really seem to be interested to sell me a camera system also.

I just moved into a new house and I heard there were some burglaries in the neighborhood.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a CCTV camera security system from Manau in Lamai.
Very decent price and great service, There is a big full HD TV in my shop, and it just looks like you are watching TV.
Really helps to prevent drunk tourist to get into trouble.
Quality is really good, was surprised for that amount.

On his website you can see some demo movies also www.cctv-samui.com
Good luck Paul

I bought a 4-camera system from the shop that has a display in Tesco-Lotus center Bo Phut - at the moment the display is a the food court - excellent service, variety of options to choose from (camera types), and all installed. My system works with a 500GB HD, so I store myself, but other options are available. The office/shop is in Bang Por.

I use a 4 input Digital Video Recorder, they are coming out of China by the skip load, cost equivalent of about 2,000THB in the UK (on Ebay often shipped from China) and I expect to be around the same price Thailand, good high definition cameras should cost about 1,000THB each.

Most CCTV DVR's are unbranded, often just labelled H.264 which is the recording format, they come without a SATA hard drive so you can fit whatever size you want, nice if you have an old drive kicking about doing nothing.

Camera Inputs: normally 4 (but 8 or 16 versions are available), Video composite (BNC) + Audio (phono) if you have a mic built into your cameras.

Outputs: Composite Audio & Video, VGA, HDMI, Ethernet.

Controls: push buttons on DVR, IR Remote, Internet.

They also have USB for a Mouse, or Memory Sticks for file transfer, and RS485 for pan and tilt if your cameras have.

Downside is these DVR's require plugins that use ActiveX which is being phased out and finding a browser that will accept the plugins leaves one with only one option MS IE, also if you want a link to your phone you will need to knock a few bricks out of your routers firewall and patch the porting.

There are also cameras that are WiFi or plug in to the Ethernet but have the same downsides, some of these cameras even have pan and tilt.
