Yutthana Onsuwan, 26, is led through a staged recreation of his alleged crime Sunday (Nov 22). He’s accused of burgling then setting fire to several buildings, the most recent of which killed a woman sleeping inside.

BANGKOK — Police have arrested a man they believe to be a serial arsonist who set fire to a tailor shop in the Bang Sue district Friday, killing a woman sleeping inside.

Yutthana Onsuwan, 26, was arrested Saturday at the Bang Sue train station and has been charged with theft and arson for a series of fires in which he allegedly torched the place after stealing valuables. Most recent such arson-burglary was the tailor shop on Soi Prachachuen 5, according to police Lt. Gen. Sanit Mahatavorn.

Sanit told police reviewed CCTV footage and saw a man park a motorbike at the shop’s side door before using a wrench to break in. Some time later, he exited with a bicycle towed it away behind his motorbike, and then the fire broke out.

what is the point of these staged re playing of the crime every time?

The only way the BIB know what happened, is when the perp shows them. No clue otherwise.

Unless it's on K.T. where they need to show the suspects how and what they did.

I am not a fan of the RTP but they have done well to capture this POS before he kills again.

This man gets his kicks from setting fire to the places he burgles. One young woman died and another 4 people were lucky to escape.

I hope he gets what he deserves.

and the point in torching the place after? blind followers by the smoke? destroy fingerprint evidence? give the police a clue that something had occured?

Boy, for some of you guys...good work is never good enough. You spend more time looking for whatever you can piss and moan about rather than give any credit for good effort. Having a perp in cuffs within 48 hours is good police work by any standard.

I've no problem with re-enactments starring the offender, it amounts to an unequivocal confession and acceptance of guilt. Case closed.

Not like in the west where the "alleged" arsonist will be supplied with a team of lawyers at public expense who will expend a bounty of billable hours finding whatever technicality they can to get incontrovertible evidence such as the video of the crime in process disallowed because the camera was not certified or some crap like that.

He walks while the bones of the woman who burned to death at his hands, sit in an urn.

Who's concept of justice is the more flawed?

"This POS" is doing nothing more than being duressed to appear at a crime scene he may or may not know, and to 're-enact' a crime he may or may not have committed, so the police and abysmal prosecution and judicial systems in this country can then say 'Ah, well, you obviously WERE guilt as you re-enacted the crime". If they have DNA evidence, or other solid proof, then great, but we all know that's largely irrelevant.

Hello Koh Tao stool pigeons. They too 're-enacted' their crime.

And what's the punishment? 1000 Baht and a slap on the wrist?

If the guy said he thought the house was empty and had no idea there was a woman sleeping in another room, he will get off light

Manslaughter is taken very lightly in Thailand, they seem to class it as an "accident" rather than the crime it would be in most other country's...

If he's a serial arsonist they should give him life in jail or a mental hospital, some people are just unsuitable for regular life and need to be locked away before they can do more damage...

Yeah, possession of the dead woman's pushbike proves nothing. It might have followed him home.

The one where suspects are set up, beaten into confession and evidence is tainted to ensure their guilt.

Anywhere that happens has no concept of justice.

Not saying this is the scenario in this case though, however it does happen.
