I trust we all have our batteries on charge in readiness for Loi Krathong? Billed as one of Thailand's 'must see' festivals, I'm looking forward to seeing what you creative folks can come up with. Over to you.

Just back from the lake.

Too many people around......lots of photos taken.

I will sort them out tomorrow.

My first Loy Krathong in Phetchabun. I expected spectecular fire balloons in the sky but I got only one in the far distance. It got kind of messy with the fish taking down many beautiful floating merits.

Not as romantic as I pictured but I tossed it in there anyway carrying my nail and hair and prayed for goodluck. It's just something you have to do.

^^ loy kaotong coming of age.. what a shame. I prefer the hand made flower ones any day. ( are these cakes ?) blink.png

And yes the lanterns can take down a plane. last year in Chiang Mai they had to delay several flights..many many lanterns with fire crackers attached... so now I hear they are banned in a number of the bigger centers.. bugger sad.png..

I say delay the planes for a couple of hours each year !!! rather see the lanterns.. smile.png

Hey bundycat, I think those "cakes" are biodegradable krathongs for kids. The fish and turtles in the lake eat them. But I know what you mean about coming of age. blink.pngsmile.png

The kids participating in Loi Krathong were so cute.
