BANGKOK: -- Sacked Election Commission (EC) secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong said yesterday that he was ready to defend himself following the threat of a libel case posed by the commission.

The EC dismissed Puchong last week for allegedly failing his performance evaluation and frequently delaying the completion of his work.

Also on Tuesday, the EC asked its legal office to consider filing a defamation complaint against Puchong following his allegations of conflict of interest over the plan of printing the discarded previous charter draft.

The EC reasoned that it wanted Puchong's allegations investigated and be made accountable to the public.

Puchong said he was not accusing anybody in particular, nor naming who the "order" came from. He said he just wanted the printing process to be transparent, rather than leaving the matter in the hands of a sole body. He also said that some anti-corruption bodies should help check the printing process for the sake of transparency.

Puchong said he was drafting his appeal against the EC's order to terminate his contract. He has a 15-day deadline after his dismissal to file an appeal.

He looks like a spoilt little mummy's boy, who is just about to burst into tears after the school bully stole his lunch money.

The face of one who was, or thought he was, a somebody and is now being treated like a nobody.

maybe you don't understand Thai culture - that face is his way of trying to look innocent and contrite. Look at my honest face........
