I know this question has been asked before but it was quite some years ago when I was searching.

I'm looking for a safe place to to store some important documents.

Today I went to Kasikorn Bank at Central Embassy and they want me to put either hold 30M THB in an account with them or put 1.25M THB for 4 years which i cannot touch but can then take back at 8M THB in about 40 years time. They call this insurance! Bangkok Bank at Siam want 69.6k THB for 3 years which i can get back after 10 years or 56.9K THB for 7 years which i can get back when i'm 80.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a safety deposit box in Central Bangkok without having large sums of money locked up by the bank for years?

(Note: I know a place at Silom that offers a fixed annual fee but from their website I don't get the feeling it's a fortress)

I have an SDB at a bank in Bangkok. I have probably had it for about 17 yrs. I pay a small annual fee of a few hundred baht. At the time I obtained it, I was working in Bangkok, and had a savings acct. there; there were no requirements beyond that. Send me a Private Mail if you want more info.

For 30m thb just build yourself one mother of a bunker.

I have a safety deposit box at Bangkok Bank on Rama4 Road in Lumpini here in Bangkok. It is a very large drawer located in a large vault. I pay 963 baht per year for it. I do have two accounts with the bank but I don't think you have to have them to get a box. At least mine is not tied to any accounts that I am aware of.

I have a safe deposit box with Krungsri Bank Phloen Chit Branch cost is Bht856 per year. I too tried Kasikorn but they needed me to take out a life insurance policy, Krungsri are happy with me just having savings and deposit accounts.
