Australian Prospective Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

Hi all and I am glad I have found this forum.

I would like some insight into a prospective marriage visa, I have downloaded the information packs from the Dima website and contacted the processing centre in Bangkok, I am told that I need to attend with my partner who is thai once the application is lodged to attend a interview, in the information pack I have, it states that a interview can be obtained by calling a few weeks before. I ask my thai partner to call the embassy and arrange a interview. When she calls she is told that the sponsor (me) does not need to attend for a interview.

I am about to go to work somewhere in the world where it will be physically impossible to get time off for over 6 months. I would like this lodged before I leave.

Has anyone had any recent experience in applying for a Prospective Marriage Visa adn if so what would be your idea's on making the application easier.

Thankyou in Adance

Adam

First thing....you are not the applicant and therefore do not have to attend the interview, if they need extra info from you then they will contact you and arrange an interview with you in your home city or wherever you have given your address to be.

What can you do to make the application go through easier....

Supply good quality information....try and cover as much ground as possible...provide as much evidence as you can....present the best application that you can....thats about it in a nutshell

Grahams nutshell is solid. (I don't know about his nuts though :o )

An application for a Prospective Marriage Visa is virtually the same as applying for a Spouse Visa or a Tourist Visa. If you know what each visa means then all you need to do is read through the numerous threads on visa applications in this forum for ideas as to how best prepare an application.

Remember the three "P's".......Planning, Preparation, Presentation, Patience.

The first three should never be rushed.

Your contribution to the application is most important too. As you won't be in Thailand when the interview is conducted, you should supply a comprehensive covering letter/Stat. Dec. regarding your involvement in the relationship.

If your partner has been to Australia before on a tourist visa it will make her application for a PMV much easier.

My fiance arrives tomorrow for a 2 month visit....will keep you updated....no I wont.... :D
