An incident occurred in central Pattaya on the afternoon of 28 June, when a foreign man experienced a violent outburst in hotel on Pattaya Second Road, hurling objects from his 12th-floor room after smashing the windows.
Eyewitnesses described scenes as dangerous, as glass shards and various objects rained down dangerously close people below. Fortunately, serious injuries were reported.
One hotel worker sustained minor cuts from flying glass. Bystanders on the road captured footage of the man’s actions.
Emergency services responded swiftly, securing the area and entering the hotel to detain the individual. He was taken to hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
Police have confirmed that the man is an Australian national, who they have not named, but are working with the Embassy and initiate legal proceedings, once he has left hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the incident, with initial assessments pointing to a possible mental health crisis.
