Hi folks

Supposed to be visiting the GF's family up in Phichit, next week. Usually use Route 32 and Route 11 for this trip. Anyone know if these roads have been affected by the floods? I only have a normal saloon car, not a 4x4 truck, so we can't cope with too much water.

Cheers

The southbound section of 32 just north of An Thong had one lane under water on Wednesday but new floodwall was in place last night and both lanes dry. Entry into Bangkok using Phyothayon Road at the shopping center had only one/two lanes passable last night with deep water on inside lane. Going north on 32 up to Singburi there was no flooding but the same spot under water on south lane had water at road level and many rescue crews working with boat. Houses next to river not on poles were up to roof level in water. Crossed from highway 1 to Singburi on the Lopburi bypass on Wednesday with no high water places so expect highway 11 will be clear.

Will update myself. As of 1700 Sunday the flooded area of route 32 north of Ang Thong has cement barrier replacing sandbags and sheet steel but road has some water in Southbound lanes. But what looks very bad is the center divider is now a raging river with a huge amount of water spurting like a fountain. Once that can no longer drain to lower ground it is likely to flood the road from the center - if the road does not wash out from the obvious undermine. The water is high on both sides so not sure if it is just from one side or both. The 6 or so workers tasked with keeping the flood wall sealed looked very perplexed as we drove by.

Thanks for that info, Lop.

Supposed to be going up tomorrow but I'm trying to persuade the GF that we shouldn't risk it. From what I've heard, I gather that things might get worse before they improve as the ground is now saturated so any rain at all will cause immediate problems.

So, GF will now have her long face on. Perhaps I should send her on the bus, or is there a boat service running now? :o
