Hi all,

My T/G goes for her interview on Thursday at the British Embassy, We have applied for a Tourist Visa. After reading lots of posts on this outstanding forum I am now becoming concerned that the application is doomed to fail. The reason for this being is that all the succsesfull applications dont seem to have attended the Embassy for interview. Is this true or am I just panicking about nothing?

Thanks in advance

Steve, don't panic just yet :o

I am American and my husband of 17years is Thai, he applied for a tourist visa to the US a few years ago (B1-B2) and they called him in for an interview. I couldn't believe it myself since he owned his own business, we had been married 17 years and I had been getting one year extensions in Thailand for a very long time.

So, I asked the consular officer why they wanted an interview when we clearly lived in Thailand and she said, it just depends on the person going through the applications, perhaps there was some further information they thought we needed to supply. She then proceeded to give my husband a multi-entry visa valid for 10 years.

So, sometimes it is just a random thing, I wouldn't stress until she has actually been turned down, then you have the right of appeal. Who knows, it may turn out ok :D

I imagine that the reason for wanting to interview her is to clarify the situation regarding her previous fiance visa application, as outlined by you in this thread.

As said to you then, she needs to convince the ECO that she will return to Thailand after the visit and that this is not an attempt to 'sneak' into the UK on the cheap. I assume you have already explained the reasons for withdrawing the fiance visa application and wanting only to visit at this time in your sponsors letter. The ECO will probably want to make sure that this is indeed the case, and she will say the same as you. As long as her answers to any question are consistent and match the evidence already supplied she should be ok.

This would be classified as a social visit. Unfortunately, for the UK, refusals of such visas cannot be appealed.

Thanks for your quick reply,

Yes I have explained the reason why we cancelled the earlier Visa but have now also recieved my divorce(which i have enclosed in the application) The real reason we want the tourist visa is because I want to make sure she could enjoy life in England before applying for the fiancee Visa again, I have also said I feel we were ill advised by a third party on the last application and this is why we are doing everything for ourselves this time.
