Featured Replies

Anybody know what is the maximun stay for tourist visa to australia is?

6 months or 12 months?

We have not married and will be doing in the future so if we could get a 12 month tourist visa instead of 6 months,

Will be back in Thailand in 3 weeks so would like to know if we can or cannot apply for 12 month tourist visa.. Cheers tinytot

See also Visitor Visas

Visitor Visas are for people intending to visit Australia for tourism or other recreational activities, including holidaying, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives or friends, or other short-term non-work purposes. The visitor visa provides for a period of stay up to 12 months.

I don't think that a 12 month visa is possible on the first attempt - this usually applies for student visas only

The usual tourist visa is for 3 months but the embassy has recently been granting a multiple entry visa that is valid for 12 months although she can only stay for a maximum of 3 months each time.

This is a real hassle as it gets very expensive flying her back to thailand every 3 months

My other friends a couple of years ago had to first get a 3 month visa and then after that they were then able to apply for a 6 months visa - I am not sure if this is still possible considering their new policy of granting the multiple entry visa
