PHUKET: -- A Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) was conducted at Loma Park on Patong Beach yesterday by the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command.

The SAREX featured air and sea rescue drills, as well as exhibitions on maritime safety.

Demonstrations and reenactments performed as part of the training were meant to emulate real-life maritime accidents, giving officers the opportunity to put their previously acquired training to the test.

The drill was executed on most populated beach in Phuket, during the highest tourists season of the year, giving the highest possible visibility? What was the purpose behind the show?

Countries tend to do military drills, when they wish to send message to other countries. These things happen all the time.

How this search and rescue drill should be interpreted? Reassurance, that the saviours are here to take care of the people in need?

There is nothing to fear about the military government as they are here to help the tourists?

I'm surprised the Jet Ski boys allowed this show without some form of compen for using their patch...
