I need some info. I know things at the US embassy have changed on getting a visa for Thai girlfriend or wife. I want to know what they are looking for. What's important to them. The do's and the don'ts. Any info would be of great help.

I was told by a close friend who just left for California with his Thai GF that the US is mostly concerned that your girlfriend will be financially secure with or without you in the States. (MOney in the bank, and account statements for 6 months to prove this ). They also wanted to make sure that she has a reason to return to Thailand if things go "bad" between you both. This would be something like aging or sick parents, schooling, employment here, land inheritance here,... something. I hope that helps.

Just claim that you met in Tijuana......as long as your in Cali.....no problemo!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep her away from fences...hahahah

Seriously.....

3 yrs of your tax returns....letter saying you are employed.....File doc from US embassy certified stating that you will be the financially responsible individual for minimum of 3 yrs....no questions will be asked.....

WELCOME TO THE USA BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of visa? If it is a tourist visa then the primary thing they will be looking at is ties to Thailand and proof she will return at the end. Because of this, the worst thing you could do is say she is coming to see you as they will assume you are planning on getting married and apply for adjustment of status (AOS) once she gets there.

They look for employment, property ownership, bank accounts, family, etc. All things that tie her to Thailand. You, unless you also live in Thailand, are reasons not to return.

Lots of links to rules and regs - which make the formalities clear - but if you are asking what "they like" and "don't like", what they are looking for, and "what the do's and don'ts" are - note that applications are not only assessed on the completed application form and the documentation that is submitted to support the application.

Behind all the formalities and documentation requirements, interviews ect ect .... the embassy employs Thai's who go out on the street and make/conduct due dilligence enquiries discreetly

At risk of someone saying, how can I imply anyone would be anything other than 100% honest in their application? Well you asked, and the truth of the matter is that a lot of bargirls get presented on visa applications as "rice farmers" or "waitresses" - in its self perhaps quite understandable, but sometimes a precurser to a lot of other things not honestly presented that could encourage a clearance officer to put the application into the "discreet enquiry" pile - at best slowing it down and adding to the frustration, and at worst throwing a spanner into the whole application.

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid and keep it honest.
