The Chiang Mai Photographic Group will be holding their 8th annual exhibition at MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center this month and invite you to enjoy a remarkably diverse collection featuring over 100 pictures by 35 photographers from half a dozen countries now based in Chiang Mai. If you are in town on January 23rd, join us for a glass of wine at the Grand Opening at 4:00pm when US Consul General Michael Heath (himself a keen photographer) will be cutting the ribbon.

This compilation of arresting images is our eighth exhibition and illustrates once again that there’s a lot more to be photographed than the usual fare of temples, hill tribes and sunsets. Using equipment ranging from simple point-and-shoot cameras and smartphones to the latest Mirrorless and SLRs, members have created a stimulating show that will quickly convince you that it’s a keen eye for a picture that really counts. Previous years’ events have met with much critical acclaim and this year’s features more black and white photographs and an even greater selection of unusual and sometimes challenging subjects.

The exhibition is the first event in f/28, a month of photographic activity here in Chiang Mai so it's a great time to visit the city. More details here

The CMPG is a non-profit organisation which aims to further all aspects of the picture taking abilities of its members through the sharing of skills and mutual support in an informal and inclusive atmosphere. We welcome photographically inclined visitors to Chiang Mai and hope you will come along to one of our regular meetings. For more information visit cmphotogroup.com.

That's the place. It's a really nice building inside and and we have a great location just as you step out of the main glass elevators on the 3rd floor. Please do come along for the opening on Saturday afternoon if you can - it's a very good show.

CMPG members who have attended at least 5 meetings in the period between Febuary 8th and September 1st may bring up to three submissions to any of the eight selection meetings that start in early September. There is a limit of 15 submissions per member. The images are discussed and members at the selection meetings vote with a show of hands for those that go onto the short list. The shortlist which is by that time around 200 - 230 pictures is then put online and members who submitted their work (whether on the shortlist or not) cast votes which determine the final selection which this year is 110 prints.
