Ok so I went to Trendy building and sent off the application for my daughters first UK passport without any of the mothers docs, fingers crossed they issue it without any problems.

I was wondering if anyone else that has experienced this and to let me know what i can expect and if they will ask for more info regarding the mother etc.

Thanks in advance

They won't issue it.

But, they will likely ask you to supply the missing documents:-

Table C
First British passport applicants born or adopted outside the UK – parents’ or adoptive parents’ documents
Please provide the following:
The passport you entered the country from which you are applying, and if different, any non-British passport held as well as evidence shown in the table below:
Born before 1 January 1983
both
parents’ full birth certificates (showing both the child’s and parents’ details)
or
your father’s naturalisation or registration certificate;
and
parents’ marriage certificate.
Born on or after 1 January 1983
both parents’ full birth certificates (showing both the child’s and parents’ details)
or
both parents’ naturalisation or registration certificates;
and
parents’ marriage certificate (this does not apply for those born on or after 1 July 2006)

I think Jip 99 is correct in his post.

Surprised that VFS did not pick up the omissions. They are usually very good at that and often ask for more than is really required.

I imagine that in the next couple of weeks you will receive an email from VFS advising there is a LETTER for collection, rather than the PASSPORT is ready for collection.

VFS may disclose the content of the letter to you in the email. However you will be invited to produce the missing documents direct to VFS. Don't delay.

My misses doesn't have a birth certificate and they accepted her Thai ID card in it's place.

Not sure about no documents though.

I am hoping that if I have sole parental rights over my son I will not need any thing for his mothers side because I do not know where she is any advice would be welcome

Normally, a Thai would present a birth certificate to obtain an ID card. However, as we are well-aware, many Thais do not have birth certificates and in those circumstances it would be usual to take the Poo Yai Baan (and others) to the Amphur to verify the applicants birth date etc.

No doubt you have the paperwork evidencing that.

I have always found HMPO to be helpful but you you need to be able to explain a story (with evidence) if you cannot meet part of the criteria.

Only a personal opinion, but I would get a child a UK passport at the earliest possible opportunity.

Thanks, looks like she's not getting a UK passport then :-(

Any reason why you did not submit the documents required from your wife ?

As Prakhonchai Nick said, "don't delay" - I would suggest you email HMPO in Liverpool with a scanned copy of your wife's birth certificate and hope that might do the trick.

she's not being cooperative, she won't give me anything

I see.

Then you will need what offset needs - evidence of sole parental responsibility.

"She" being the childs mother. Is she also your wife? if you are not married, then the Mother has parental rights -not you - and even if you are married, it is not certain in Thailand that you have parental rights.

You must try and obtain a birth certificate for her, failing which you will need a certified copy of her ID Card and most likely the house registration book too with translations.

There is a time limit imposed by HMPO to correct any shortcomings in the original application, Fail to meet that and you lose the passport fee.

Yes I do have prove which includes a Court order legalising me as the father and a Court order giving me Sole Parenting rights over my son and I have his Birth Certificate with my name on it as the father I am hoping that this will be enough to get him a UK Passport

There is no more that you CAN get - I am sure you will be OK.

I have a Court ordered Sole Custody document and had no problem getting a Canadian passport for my son, They did require that the document be officially translated into English at an embassy recognized translation service.

Took about 2 weeks and 3000 baht for the translation service.

I just received an email from DHL for a delivery on 27th at trendy building, and I'm guessing it's my daughters first UK passport. Only sent it off 10 days ago. Proper result. :-D

Very strange

It has always been VFS that send an email to notify the arrival of the new passport........not a courier.

You either receive an email stating passport ready for collection, or if there is a problem,,"there is a letter for collection"

It was a text I received with a link to DHL site with screenshot attached. It cant be anything else but the passport as I didn't send any original doc's. I was expecting an email asking to provide more info about her mum but I get a delivery notice instead. happy days lol

Good for you Tony if the passport has been issued.

If it has it makes a mockery of the guidelines and also the experiences of others who have posted on here.

10 days is pretty consistent with recent processing times and I doubt that they would just send everything back unprocessed without contacting you first.

Fingers crossed for you and await the final report with interest smile.png

By the way I did send something from her mother at the last minute which was a blurry photo of her id card with no translation given. I didn't think that would have been enough but maybe I was lucky
