Child Maintenance, how much does it cost to keep a child per month?

Hi all, I was wondering how much people pay to keep their child a month. We have a 3 year old and make sure he has more than enough clothes and spoil him a little. I've noticed that we spend about 12k a month on everything, food, nappies and so on. But then I thought the average Thai child can't have that much spent on them as the average wage is around 8k. I know some people who only pay 3k but then their children wear the same clothes all the time and eat basic food, and we don't want that.

Does 12k seem to much to be spending on a child per month or is that about right?

the minimum wage is around 8k, not the average

Minimum wage only covers employees ...... about 10% of the Thai labour force (mainly in BK).

Self employed, shopkeepers, farmers, stall holders, not covered.

The average income for adult Thais in rural areas is around 2,500bht per month each.

I have no idea really.

I have a girl 5 in two weeks.

Yesterday we went to talad nat, think I spent 100B on play things, this morning she ran out of balloons, went to the village shop 20B, she drank 3 bricks of milk so far, goes to a private school at probably 10k/ year. One week ago bought clothes for 5k, do that a few times/year.

She confiscated my 20k B iPad 2 years ago, so I bought a new one for myself.

I guess cost is anywhere between 5 and 10k month, 8k maybe?

If they're smart enough to go to university, the government will give them a loan.

No need to spend any of your money.

Especially if they aren't even your biological children.

But he is mine ,anyway he would still have to pay it back

Let your children stand on their own feet.

It's good for their character.

Mummy and Daddy paying for everything often creates worthless losers.

Nobody in my family gave me any money after I was 18.

And I still managed to attend University.

I never funded my children in the UK after they were 18.

They still managed to attend University.

It's only natural for parents to want to help their kids. Those of us who had kids at a later age are at a disadvantage because the extra costs weren't factored in when we began planning our retirement.
