Need For A Top Dr. Thread Don't You Think ?

Recommended Posts

As popular as Plastic surgery is in Thailand and as many people who come from all over the world to Thailand just for those procedures why is it that every thread is closed when people are trying to get recommendations and information on this Health, Body and Medicine section on Thai Visa ... Can the threads continue and the moderators just delete individual posts of people who join those threads just to disrupt and hijack them . It seems good threads about top Dr.'s in Thailand who do PS on THAI VISA in the Health, Body and Medicine section would not only be a great asset for people looking for Dr.'s but would attract a lot of people to this forum ..... Like a top 10 list .... with peoples personal experience with these dr.'s if possible ...

This is a Health, Body and Medicine section it seems that a section like this people would be a little bit more respectful in their post when you have others who are genuinely looking for medical help that is a pretty serious subject what could be more important than Health, Body and Medicine .... money ... sex ... I think not . If so then I guess it say's something about this forum and many of the people on it not saying this is not a great forum , but it may not be the pinnacle in finding information about Health, Body and Medicine in Thailand .

I have tried to word this post in the most respectful manner I possible can but seeing how it may be a bit controversial even worded like this it may not go over too well ..

I see there is a separate , I drink too much , Stop smoking, and Bird Flu section ... I would think there is room for a Plastic surgery section as this is such a major reason people come to thailand when it comes to things having to do with Health and body .

Any thoughts that can be expresed in a way that will not result in this thread bieng closed ?

Sobe,

I know where you are coming from as you want the best possible. But in reality there is no such thing. If you take the industry that you are most familiar with (your work) you can see that although everyone does the same thing, some people are simply better at some things than others.

Example persons a, b, and c all do the same work. Person ‘a’ is great at process #1 but can do all of the other processes in the job #2 - #10. Person ’b’ is great at process #4 and in his mind he sucks at #9 but his work is still acceptable. Person ‘c’ is best at process #7 and is also good at process #2.

The nearest thing to a list like this actually is not a positive list but actually a complaint list similar to the ‘Better Business Bureau’ in the states. Also you must consider like yourself we all have good and bad days. Even the top doctors in the USA have bad days and the quality of their work suffers on those days. Unfortunately keeping track of bad things and not good is more common. You don’t see much good news in the papers as it simply does not sell papers.

I personally don’t know if there is the a place like the BBB in Thailand. Like any cosmetic surgeon they have photos of their work in their office for people to see. You just need to go and see.

In the states it is by reputation of word of mouth that makes a doctor viewed at the top. Perhaps many made it big from simply having a magazine article done on them. Hypnosis for weigh loss simply exploded when it was featured on “Dateline NBC” a few years ago. For myself there was a fairly significant number of referrals for a variety of things from people that I helped in the past.

If you view artists like Rembrandt or Norman Rockwell. Both viewed as great, but completely different styles.

Think about why people came to you.

I doubt TV would have such a section as it tends to promote a person and not a general area.

Good reply John k. I can't fathom why this individual is still posting though. He has had two threads that he began closed already. He seems to draw the worst out of people :o

Well, I can happily report that his PM hate campaign to me is continuely nicely :-)

Hopefully, it's providing a useful vent for his frustrations.

Bendix; suggest you inform him not to PM you anymore and that future PMs from him will be posted in public(I am sooooo hoping that, that would be the case! :o ). That is fair warning.

Also; you are in your full right to send abusive PMs to moderators for their consideration just like one report hate-mail to the police. Cheers!

Interesting Bendix - Nothing you have said warrants such behaviour. Its rather healthy to have skepticism, so this shouldnt really bother the OP if what he says is true.

It would be hard to control, like comments about schools- if you "name and shame," you risk exposing who you are, inviting retribution from parties with vested interests (including suckups at the school), and having some old git moan "there're two sides to every story." And if you give compliments, you'll get 4-5 people who didn't like the guy for one reason or another disagreeing with you.

Anecdotally, it's very hard to get useful information out of a thread. Statistics can sometimes help (like a poll) but you would need enough people who'd been with one doc to vote.

It's a tough call.

In recession-plagued Thailand, even the government has recognized the money-making potential of plastic surgery. The Tourism Authority of Thailand helps promote institutions like the Bumrungrad Hospital to foreigners, who make up one-third of its patients. "We're a hot commodity," says Ruben Toral, the hospital's director of international programs. Located on a traffic-clogged street in Bangkok, the 12-story, $90 million hospital is like a five-star, round-the-clock plastic surgery factory. There's a Starbucks in the lobby, high-speed Internet connection for the patients and room service offering halal and kosher meals.

In the mid-'70s, Thailand had only 10 plastic surgeons, so locals tended to go abroad to Japan or Singapore for cosmetic help. Today, the tide has reversed, and Thailand has become a surgical hub. "No country can compete with Thailand," says Dr. Preecha Tiewtranon, a surgeon specializing in sex reassignment at Bangkok's Preecha Aesthetic Institute, where 80% of the clientele is foreign. Much of the appeal is price: Preecha, who performed 300 operations last year, charges only $6,000 for a sex change, compared to $25,000 in the West.

Why don't you just block him from your PM's, rather than pimping like a spoilt child in public. You're a big boy now. :o

If you are getting offensive PMs from another member you do have the option of forwarding them to one of the mods so that appropriate action can be taken.
