What has the scale of the map to do with anything. Maps are relative to their surroundings.

The root problem is that maps are not that accurate if drawn pre gps era. It follows that gps is of little use for older maps (but it helps). The terrain also changes over time with rivers altering their course, natural erosion of the coastline, landslides etc. I explained in my post above that in exceptional circumstances an error of ground to map can be up to 4 meters. How the PM managed to loose 1200 rai is stretching the accepted norm more than a tad. Thainess perhaps?

Hello Land Office guys check out what Google Earth and a GPS into a laptop can do for your map interpretation.

Of course this entire story is bullshit and the real story is about protecting the corrupt buyers and land officials.
