Hey Guys.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel/resort on lamai beach for myself and my thai wife to stay for a few nights and also some family members.

maybe a 3 star ***, on the beach, reasonable priced, nothing extravagant, good pool for the kids, next to the beach, nice rooms, not lots of rocks on the beach, reasonably quiet near to other stuff, restaurants, bars etc.

Thanks in advance.

"Pavillion" - the may have 4 stars - reasonable priced is a relative figure, so maybe not "Pavillion"...
Sea Breeze Bungalow is nice, but I'm not sure they have a pool, but there are a number of resorts next to it, in the Southern part of Lamai Beach.

I've stayed at both Crystal Bay Yacht Club Resort and Crystal Bay Beach Resort, they're both in Crystal bay and both on the beach. I preferred the former and would go there again; it sounds to me like it might well suit your requirements. The small, secluded bay is half rocky and half sandy so you just walk a very small distance to the sandy part which is closer to the latter resort.

We hired motorbikes to get around; I'd say both resorts are reasonably near Lamai town. The Yacht Club (there are no yachts) has car parking but the Beach Resort doesn't. We were last there in July 2014.

I live in Lamai. Lot of place are full at the moment and will be for a good while yet.

You said it was you and the missus and then said kids later with regard to a pool so four people shall we say. The crystal bay area is damn nice and the food is good too. Calm waters and lots of rocks around crawling with crabs. It's a bit out of what is considered Lamai to the point where the kids will not walk into Lamai. If you want to go anywhere as a group then it's either a songtow or a taxi. Taxi prices are not the same on Samui as they are elsewhere in Thailand so it would be a cost to consider as well as the hassle.

I'm with khunPer in suggesting The Pavilion though it's certainly not 4 star. Good breakfast (seriously good) and it's served next to the pool so the kids can go play in full view while you guys finish up and decide what to do for the day. I'll stop here because I doubt they have space available anyway.

Southern are of Lamai beach has great sand. Not been down that way for years but I believe that 'white sands' still exists. Let me go take a look.

I think this is quite old.

It was shut and re-developed a year back so should still be in good nick.

I've stayed in all but Buddy's but I'm just after a room to sleep in. Give me the key and I'm good to go, next time you see me is when I hand it back to you and I want free late checkout, 4PM. Service has been good but the whole question is somewhat subjective.
