Hi all,

I (located in Pattaya) am thinking about buying a car which is registered in a different province (farang selling spouse's car scenario). I guess they want to sell it in Pattaya because they can get a better price for cash and sell quicker here. For example Bangkok cars seem to be 5%-10% cheaper than here. I am just to lazy to go there :-) So far so good.

Here is my question. They told me that they would have to take my documents (residence certificate, copy pp etc) and change the registration in the other province (I don't have to go with them ...). They can not add my name to the Blue Book here in Banglamung.

Does that sound about right?

As long as I get the Blue Book back in my name - and only pay after that - everything (in terms of paperwork) should be ok, right? (aside of the usual used car "lemon risk").
