Have a Thai Fiancé and a child (with her) of 7 months with a dual Thai and USA passport. We've been in no rush to get married. I wanted to take the kid home to Colorado last June but the GF was denied a USA tourist visa. The kid was actually a hinderance believe it or not. The interviewer said (insert American accent) "you have a American BF and a American child... You ain't coming back.. bla bla bla".

I've sent in the application for Fiancé Visa. Then need to do the full Immigrant visa (K-1) then an application for Permanent Resident.

My GF nor I are concerned if she has US citizenship. I wonder if I'm going too far with all this. Our goal is NOT to move to the USA. I want to spend only a month or 2 at home a year. My goal in all this paper work is simply to allow her the same freedoms to travel that I get as an American. I want to be able to go home and not have to wonder if she'll get her visa to see my family. I want to go to Europe freely, obtaining visa's on arrival with family in tow. I was thinking the best way to do this is to get her an American passport but my friends say that will take her years and she may be locked into living in the States during the waiting game. I can't deal with that. I want to do what we can from here.

Does anyone have better advice on how to allow her full travel access?

Additionally, If the K-1 visa is the best option do you know if she can get a US Passport with Permanent Resident status? How long does this process generally take? Are we limited to living in the US during this time?
