Yeah we got 200 baht and half a bottle of blend 285." "OK, pick up some soda water at the 7/11 on the way back to the station. What does the girl look like?" canathai8
I was in Pattaya once on a new years eve, and walked by half full bars at 11 am, with early drinking farang already hitting it hard. Doing that I'd be a mess by 3 pm Waking up at 1130 pm with a bad hangover must be fun Up to them..

I mean really .... !! isn't there bigger fish to fry in Pattaya than these guys ........ This is just ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PattayaAl
Here is a funny thing. Firstly Soi 46/3 is Soi batman and "drinkers" are there 24 hours all day long. Secondly 2 cops live in this Soi . One runs money lending operation and another bets and lotto sales. I am guessing raided shop owed one of them some money. Worth mentioning ,neither one of them is high ranking, might be the reason for low police attendance.

Some can play through, some will realize waking-up at 11:30pm means the bars are still open.
springheeled jack
I know its against the law to gamble but lets face it what do the police get out of It these people will be fined they will find another venue and they will continue to do the same thing nothing changes. IAMHERE
This place is a real gambling nest. They had the exorbitant sum of 200 Baht on the table. Bet they weren't playing Bridge. I bet it'd take a lot of legal knowhow and knowledge to know if it was bridge being played. I'd expect 30 or more court cases to decide if it was bridge and another 30 to decide if it was legal or not.
oxforddon
Yet another round of "damned if they do any policing and damned if they don't" responses. It's a report of one minor incident among many that happen everyday but go unreported.
NCC1701A
don't Thais have any private property rights? the police can just come busting into your house or business? if they were out front in plain view, why? and didn't they see the cops coming? could it be they had no expectation of the police doing anything because they never have before? are these the same cops who live next door? are there witnesses to the gambling? when the cops showed up, why didn't someone just put the money away? it is only 200 baht, not like 5000 baht in small bills. and hide the cards when the cops showed up? a small pack of cards in a big shop house. who said they purchased the whiskey in the store? are there witnesses? is there some law about drinking? did the police see them drinking? what time did the drinking take place? are there witnesses? maybe a private party on private property. who took the photos and why? were these people tortured into confessing? will the international press pick up on this story?
