[Internet Questiosn] What can I do

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I bought a house about a year ago in Samut Prakarn next to the airport..

It's an development estate..

I only managed to purchase the unit near the end and assume that there will be internet connections as I saw True advertising the service at the entrance of the estate.

I called them up recently as I plan to move in soon and was told that my unit is too far from the exchange (200m too long) as True only provided Docsis in the area (No fibre even for a new estate) I tried to tell the telesales guy that I did not mind paying for the cost of running the additional cable only to be told that they do not handle this area. Was told that they may complete the extension by end of this year.

I know that TOT runs the phone line in the estate but have not seen any TOT fibre station in the estate. Is there anyway I could get True to stop being lazy and pull the cable to my unit? Or should I try my luck and call TOT instead?

Ask ToT about fibre.

My cable is at least 600m (1300m to the main road "box").

But the whole installation also cost a small fortune (25k) whistling.gif

Fibre is THE option for long distances.

Simple fibre can be run over kilometers with little loss.

Seems like it.. But I am currently being thrown from left to right.. Everyone say, not their district. '

Try contacting ALL the players:

3BB or other 'Jasmine' units servicing nearby areas

AIS

CAT

CS Loxinfo look at their NET X / HighSpeedCondo Service

TOT

TRUE

...and see if any of them service your area.

'Cable distance' do matter. So do 'districts', apparently, as some people have reported inability to get service because they were just on the wrong side of a boundary line or even on the other side of a 'klong'. Just keep asking different people, "how can we get this to happen". Offer to pay for the extra cable (of course ask for the price first before you agree).

In the meantime, also ask about "Wireless Broadband" options where an Internet Provider uses small (or smallish) 2-Way Radio Transceiver Microwave Data Link devices (ie: AIS AirNet, TOT WiNet) mounted on the side of your home or on a pole to get the Internet to you.

AIS confirms that they are not servicing my area.. 3bb neither.. I'm left with either TOT or True.. Just called true again.. say will check and call me back.. Soon...

But knowing TOT....

-UPDATE-

Called all the service provider, was informed that the area is a "TRUE EXCLUSIVE" area.

Even TOT was not able to provide home phone to the area.

Can anyone recommend me a solution? calls and email to True seems to bring the same old reply..
