Unicity Thailand - a pyramid? - joinig fee how much?

Featured Replies

Dear all, the gf of my father got into this Unicity MLM thing.

Does anyone have some experience or knowledge about it?

Foremost i'd be interested in these questions:

1. is it a pyramid?

2. how much is the joining fee? (she said 500 THB, but i doubt that this is accurate)

Thanks for your comments.

I presume MLM means multi level marketing ?....then yes it will be a pyramid scheme of some sort

I am a paid "member" of Unicity.

1. Yes, it is a pyramid -- similar to Amway.

2. The joining fee is 500 baht (or it was when I joined about 7 years ago, here in Thailand.)

I "joined" Unicity merely to be kind to a neighbor, who had been kind to me. I have never sold any products nor received any commissions. I did buy a few health supplements and my "membership" gave a discount on the products which more than covered the cost of the membership. I since learned that identical health supplements are available elsewhere at considerably lower cost.

Over several years I watched my neighbor's devotion to Unicity decline. He joined in order to "win" a new car, because he didn't have the money for a down-payment. Unicity makes promises like that. He put in great amounts of time and effort and hope, building his "down line" in the MLM scheme. After three years, no new car. Not much benefit of any kind from what I could see. Very disappointing for him.

When my wife was approached by a similar 'fast car & 'big money' provider the name was 'triangle business' not pyramide.

We declined.
