Jim walker Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 And also to be used as a base for the new submarines usfull old airport
F4UCorsair Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I don't believe anybody would have taken the time to post on such a nonsensical proposition, weighing up the pros and cons. CHECK THE DATE!!!
tgeezer Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I am amazed that people think that an airport is no more than a runway!
Jonathon Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Good to see All Fools Day is alive and well in Thailand.
kuripot Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It may be April 1st but I can think of an international airport that was extended with an elevated runway. Madeira.
balford Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 And have a great April Fool's Day! Bob A. Relaxed in Lampang
Brer Fox Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Innovative and revolutionary are two words which set alarm bells ringing when public safety in Thailand is concerned.
PETERTHEEATER Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day!
Crossy Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! Nah, quite a few sussed it earlier, my finger was getting tired on the delete button
tomross46 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 When General Chavailt was Supreme Commander of the military and as PM he said the best option for increasing the capabilities of Don Mueang was to move the Air Force to Korat, and remove the golf course. Hes also going to lessen the Bangkok traffic problem, by taking the police off the light switch and computerize everything. There was also a plan to move the Cavalry to Salaburi. As we have seen nothing happened.
ICECOOL Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yep I can see from the posts...lots of April Fools in Thailand...ha ha ha haa
louse1953 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 What date is it today??? But everything is possible with April fool jokes. See the extension for foreigners at Seven Eleven, a joke from several years ago is now reality... A lot easier dealing with those 7/11 girls than Immi.
louse1953 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! Yes,killjoy, could have strung it out a bit longer.
Jonmarleesco Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It is after 12.00, the time limit for AF. So it could almost be believable.
jamesbrock Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! Except my post above, the fourth post, was a 'oh god, what an unfunny attempt' type of post, and I'm pretty sure the post after mine was also quite tongue in cheek. Some people don't feel the need to state the bleeding obvious.
chrisinth Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 With a bit more forethought, they could have built in the steam catapult runs. Able to reduce the length of tollway used and allows taxis to co-exist during take-offs. Landing could still present a problem though........................
gandalf12 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I used to work at an airport and watched as they built a new runway. The depth of the runway bed was enormous in order to accommodate the weight of the aircraft. I wonder if the brilliant Thai engineers even considered whether the roadway would support the weight of a fully loaded aircraft smacking down onto the runway for a landing? Probably not. Note to self: Avoid using Don Mueang airport at all costs. The motorways in the UK are designed to handle aircraft landing on them. This is done to overcome problems if an airport was attacked. Aircraft, mostly military ones, would be able to land and take off from motorways. An interesting little fact for you
sawadee1947 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 hahaha it's fool's day, people. Not all of you realized that, hahahahahha
Satcommlee Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Actually this story is not quite true, my wife's uncle's brother is high up in the Airforce. It is of course ridiculous to suggest you land commercial airliners on the expressway. But as Don Muang is both Civilian and Military, the plan is actually for the smaller jets of the military to use the third runway. Thai Visa get your fact right please!
CantSpell Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 They should land them direct on Sukhumvit Faster to go shopping.
cnx355 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! First time in the last 8 years that I could guess about an April Fool posting...Usually I get fooled......Maybe I am getting smart....555
jamesbrock Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! First time in the last 8 years that I could guess about an April Fool posting...Usually I get fooled......Maybe I am getting smart....555 Yes, I concede it's sometimes very difficult! That motorbike ban story almost got me until I found the photo that was published yesterday...
JAS21 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yes, 1st of April today ! But it took 52 posts to highlight April Fools day! First time in the last 8 years that I could guess about an April Fool posting...Usually I get fooled......Maybe I am getting smart....555But it took you allday ...☺
balo Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 How can they do this ? I would not trust the construction material they used in building the tollway . What a terrible plan , only in Thailand!
Crossy Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 OK so this thread was the decoy, who spotted the OTHER April 1st thread?
