Will my Electronic Appliances work in UK?

Featured Replies

Hi...

Will be re-locating to London. Just need to make sure if my electronic appliances , TV, Microwave Oven work in London?

Thanks in advance

I have brought electrical appliances bought in Thailand to the UK and they work perfectly also brought appliances from the Uk which also work in Thailand.

Voltage in UK is 220 - 250 volts, similar to Thailand.

In my house in Thailand I installed UK electrical sockets beside some of the Thai sockets so that adaptions are not required. You might want to think about taking some Thai sockets to the UK for convenience.

your taking a microwave to london

all the same except plugs, just change to uk plugs when there,

If the devices were bought in Thailand they will work in the UK. (Plugs will need changing or adapters used)

Check the cost of transporting the devices as it may be more cost effective to sell what you have and buy new in the UK.

Thanks all for the response. @johnatong transportation would not be an issue as my company will pay all the cost as part of my relocation to UK.

Actually, keeping the cost of TV, Microwave Oven, Fridge etc in UK, I thought of buying all new appliances in Bangkok and get it shipped to UK.

The TV will work but the programmes will not be the same.

Also, the microwave will work, but the food won't taste as good.

The TV will work but the programmes will not be the same.

TV will probably not work as the UK is now all digital and the O/P will need a set top box Free2Air, Satellite, Cable or New TV with inbuilt digital receiver to receive any TV service in the UK.

Buy a new TV in the UK at least, great deals currently and the TV will have "Freeview" (digital receiver) built in with no subscription charges.

No Thai plugs in the UK

You will need to change the plugs for sure, but otherwise all will be OK
