Bikes in CM

Featured Replies

I know of course where the vehicle registration office (or what it is called) for cars is located, along the Hang Dong rd.
But what about motorcycles? I will probably buy one in BKK and must, I assume, then change the registration plate to a CM one. And maybe register a repaint in another colour. It used to be somewhere by the river, but I haven't had a bike for ten years, so I wonder where it is situated now. Even if it is on the same place I can't really remember exactly where. An address and a road description would be very much appreciated.

I never had to change my plates and I have registered twice since moved to cm

You dont have to, but you should / can keep your plates current to your province.

That is unless its a big bike with a book of the grey variety..

I am going to guess the lamphun Rd one was the towns earlier one, but become swamped on volume (as the new Hang dong one seems to be these days for cars) so when making a new one, they kept the old one just for bikes.

Hardly a big hardship is it ??

Why on earth are they in different places?

They were not last visit.

Do you have to renew motor scooter registration annually? Do you have to visit the registration office or can it be done online? Cost?

You must pay road tax and compulsory insurance annually..

Either at the land transport office or via an agent (look for the yellow cog on a blue background, very common) who does it in 1 or 2 days.

I am told 3 years untaxed and you lose the plate. Not sure on that but its what I was told.
