Education Ministry pushes forward STEM Education

BANGKOK, 8 April 2016 (NNT) – The Minister of Education has endorsed the implementation of the STEM Education project, which will seek to enhance students' success from their studies.


Minister of Education Gen Dapong Ratanasuwan has said after attending the STEM Education implementation steering meeting, that this teaching method should be implemented in the same direction by all schools, after a few selected schools have adopted this plan with specific adjustments accordingly.

He has said cooperation between agencies and schools are required to push forward the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education project in order improve the outcome of students' studies, as this project seeks to a employ a method that will encourage thinking and analyzing skills that can be utilized practically.

On this matter, Mahidol Wittayanusorn School Director Yuwadee Nakhaphadulrat has revealed that the STEM Education scheme has been proposed for implementation at 2,250 public schools under the supervision of the Office of the Basic Education Commission.

She has said STEM Education encourages actual implementation of the subjects in students' daily lives, supports creativity to spur student innovations for the betterment of the society and state. Under this scheme, teachers will play a crucial role in introducing learning activities that are relevant to the objectives of the STEM Education program.

The UK government has given up with its own policies and hopes now to make ALL schools ( I assume the exception with be "church" schools ) Academies.

Why ? Because teaching in a way that students understand WORKS.
