Does anyone know where you can find softball equipment for sale in CM (if it's available at all).

There's a 'Chiang Mai Softball' FB page, and that would likely be your best source of information.

"Wei" has a sideline selling gloves & such....He is also on the Payap Softball FB group.....

Wu Jia-Hui on FB - Wei ... send him a PM....He can get most stuff....

Cleats over 10-10.5 & good bats are a whole 'nother challenge....I have contacts in the US but the shipping on balls & bats is a killer....

CM softball has gloves for use + I gave them 12-13 new bats but we're down to the last 3 or 4 & they run $200-300 each + shipping of $72.00 per....

Huh? I can buy a Louisville Slugger for under $20. I wanted a couple bats and a few balls to show kids in the village how to play sand-lot ball. $200 for a bat? Lmao! Thanks for the info though.

Obviously you haven't played much - or seriously....Doubt you could find a bad bat in the states at play it again sports (used - like a sports pawn shop for $20.00)....Composite bats are now the norm....

Send a message to Wei....He might know of some stuff - only trouble is it's like gold here....

I've given away some aluminum bats & a batting tee to the local colleges & school programs or I'd give you one.....

Very rarely - twice a year? you'll see gloves on the second hand FB pages but you need to be quick....

The sport is new 15/20 years here....Getting popular at school and college level with a couple of kids leagues scattered about but most are learning for the first time in college.....Then they become dedicated....

Good luck in your quest....

Best bet is have friends bring it with them in luggage and piece it together.....

Last bat I I got was about $70 shipping & 2000B or so customs....Best to avoid that if you can.....

The Japanese play slow pitch at CMU....The Thais play fast pitch there & Maejo & Payap....Also slow pitch at Payap.....

Farang/Thai play slow pitch Sundays at Payap....

Me and a few others would run/have a good BP a couple of times a week at Payap but that's tapered off... I might start that up again in May.....

I played in leagues for years, but it's been a very long time since I've swung a bat (about which you are correct- even twenty years ago a really good one was well over $100)- I should oil up my old glove (which I brought to LOS back in '01 and haven't used;)) and come out and play one of those days (if I can still manage it).

Absolutely correct. I'm not serious about it at all. Love to play though although I tend to frustrate the hell out of the more 'serious players'. Lol. Sorta like my love for Single A, AA, and AAA baseball. "The Bigs?" Not so much. Although I'd on a rare occasion check out a Mariners game when Ichiro was playing (guy's got an arm). Softball and baseball, for me, are a day out in the sun, a couple of beers, and socialization. I keep my competitive side for snow skiing - a sport that I actually have excelled at during my life, although that chapter has closed since moving to The LOS. I'll work with some friends in the US to get what I need shipped over. Appreciate the reply. thumbsup.gif
