UDD to announce its opposition to draft charter simultaneously with the PDRC foundation

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will announce its rejection of the draft constitution on the same day that the Foundation for the People’s Democratic Reform Committee makes a statement about its standpoint on the same issue.

UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan said Wednesday that he would wait until PDRC foundation chairman Suthep Thuagsuban set the date for making the statement and he would choose the same day to hold a press conference to announce the UDD’s negative position vis-à-vis the draft charter.

He stated that if the PDRC Foundation could make a public statement, the UDD would be able to do so. He further said that he would explain the reasons why the draft is unacceptable section by section.

There are two options for the voters regarding the national referendum – to accept or to reject the draft, said Jatuporn, however, complaining that those who reject the draft are being treated as if they are wrong.

The UDD leader called on the National Council for Peace and Order to remain neutral in the referendum and to facilitate the Election Commission to be able to carry out the referendum in a straightforward fashion and not to dictate the EC to do as it wishes.

Jatuporn hailed the Democrat party for its decision to go it alone about its opposition to the draft charter instead of joining hands with the Pheu Thai party to oppose the draft.

Those from the red side should proceed directly to jail.

Those on the yellow side, please make you way to the Senate.

Reconciliation is a dish best served cold.

What should happen is that both Suthep AND Jatuporn go to jail and share the same cell for the next 10 years. Of course it wouldn't take long before the arguments and fighting starts but I wouldn't even put 2 baht on who the winner would be.

Will be interesting to see how the NCPO handle this.

Indeed. I have a feeling the cantankerous one has thrown a hissy fit this morning.
Best to don hazmat suits for the ensuing shitstorm that will come from Gov't House.

Can you imagine being the guy that gives the "PM" the daily news update? That must be one of the worst jobs in Thailand!

Even Suthep may be coming to his senses and realizes this guy is bad for Thailand.

Did you not read. Suthep supports the draft and the pm and all things connected to it. He supports it so much, that when the military appointed senate appoints the new pm, they might as well just appoint Suthep or his son for all their hard work. Maybe they could just work in a wee circle . Suthep closes country for military --- mitilitary appoint Suthep to top position -----Suthep appoints military to top positions -----military appoints Suthep to top positions.it could go on for decades. And there would be no more fighting. Thailand could be like china and have a single government. It's going to be great! !!!wait and see. ????

Glad to see some true Thai people from both joining together for the betterment of Thailand. I guess they just as i did not like the Chinese book or the people who suggested it. Protect Thailand and its people from this Chinese loving military government!

In that regard it's surprising that there have been no parodies on YouTube with footage from that German historical film set in a bunker.

He is describing the future. A trifle impertinent, but with a backbone of rich possibility.

Obviously , it is now a fact that Suthep has given his full support to the draft charter ( no surprise there ) but he is dreaming if he thinks this will see him become elected PM by the hand picket military senate.

Prayuth is clearly a sensitive man and is embarrassed by his own illegitimacy. This whole charade is designed by him to get himself chosen as the next PM ..... by what he thinks in his slanted view will be democracy at work. He will then tell the world that he has been ' democratically ' elected by the Thai people as their legitimate. PM.

The whole idea is so ludicrously pathetic that you seriously have to stand in awe at just how out of touch he is with just about everything.

Ah, the storm troopers arise once more.

Good description of Suthep and his rabble. Well said.

Also good move by the UDD to ensure a fair shout on the charter.

Suthep and his lunacy is contemptible, I have never hidden my views on his actions.

The UDD are no better. They are violent street thugs with no tolerance for any view but their own. They are the antithesis of everything democracy needs. Their thuggery is no better than suthep's.

I recognise this and despise both.

Such a shame you don't.

And the Thai people will benefit how? By being thrown back into a feudalistic society. Where peasants have no say and all power is with the ruling elite. Thailand needs open and transparent Democracy. If it had this then the likes of Thaksin, Abissit and the Military would serve the people and not vice versa
