Hi,

I m currently in Thailand , I have a passport from Europe and I would like to visit China, likely a city in the south of China for one week.

can I go to China without a visa or do I need to apply for visa (go to Bangkok and stay 2+ days etc..)

I ve heard that in the special zone Shenzen one can fly without a visa and even cross into China.

If someone pls can advise

Thank you

There's a five-day visa valid for Shenzhen only which you can get at the land border between HK and Mainland China. Google for details. Some nationalities, Americans in particular, are not eligible for this visa. (Based on official boundaries, the Shenzhen SEZ is quite a large area.) There's a similar, though probably shorter, Zhuhai-only visa.

So far as I know, the special Shenzhen and Zhuhai visas are not available at the airports.

I am not sure that same-day regular tourist visas are still available. And again, sometimes some nationalities are subject to restrictions; for example, China has at times made visa applications difficult for French citizens, for whatever reasons. So again, research this thoroughly before heading out.
