Spent a week helping the villagers from group 6 (our group),in helping them make a Buddha statue at the temple. This shot was from one of the ladies, waiting for the next line of buckets of cement to be filled. All the work was manually done, every, piece of material was passed in a human chain up the hill.An amazing sight to see and also be part of.What was more amazing, was that most of the people working on the statue, were elderly.......their stamina and hard work, put my efforts to shame.

This is a really great pic, Shaggy!

And with little "artifice" (maybe a bit of vignetting at least I think)...

Strong composition: shoulders line as a diagonal, crossed by another face + hand diagonal, this hand right in the middle of the frame base...

Expression is great: expectation, attention, while the hand move gives a more natural and full attitude to the portrait...

The blurred background in a monochrome light tone cut by the black/gray shirt gives even more poping/presence to the portrait...

A real vivid feeling!

Bravo!

:clap2:

Thanks for that Ray!

Don't know how my poor old camera survived a week up at the temple,if it wasn't covered in dirt and cement, then it was covered in my sweat......sometimes a combination of all three, poor thing.

That's a lovely shot of your young un Mike!

Taking a moment to recover

Faces and light are your thing. Remember that shot you took in Amsterdam when we were at that bar? The girl who'd just been dumped.

Yeah,I do mate......ended up losing those pics somehow.I do like faces, especially if I can catch them naturally. The light, hmmmm not always a plus point, but try my best to work around/with it......or just edit the hell out of it afterwards!
