Saying good morning with flowers not illegal, says computer crime expert

BANGKOK:-- A leading figure of the computer crimes division has said there is no truth to a rumour that sharing a post of flowers with the greeting "Sawatdee Torn Chaaw" (good morning) was a crime.

The statement from Somporn Daengdee, a deputy chief at the computer watchdogs, said that contrary to claims made online no one would face arrest over sharing the popular greetings, reports Daily News.

It was all a hoax and a lie and certainly not a violation of copyrights. The pictures were artistic and not subject to copyright.

However, he added that a link with some online and application posts that warned "Think before you post - avoid prison" was a genuine warning and that people in violation of genuine computer related laws could face arrest for posting illegal material.

Only in Thailand could saying good morning be considered a crime. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Should be a crime everywhere, mornings are never good. Pure torture to be forced out of a soft bed into the cruel world. Especially if some one does it before the third cup of coffee, a clear felony.

Except that it isn't.

Even if it is(was) copyright infringement to use a copyrighted photo in a social media thread its not a criminal offence so jail would not be an option, even in this country...

..... and the person who started that hoax rumor mocking the Computer Crimes Division, will be arrested, fined 100 Baht, and jailed for 5 years.

Good morning then :)

Eating sandwich for breakfast while reading a book is still a a no-go though, is that correct? facepalm.gifcheesy.gif

Nah that'll just get you sent for "attitude adjustment", where you'll be held and intimidated without a trial, or even being charged, since it's not against the law, but it's not breaching your rights either, since section 44 means that anything the army does is legal.

Or maybe.

Learn to think and avoid unnecessarily sending so many people to prison.

Depends on what the book is. In some cases yes, a no-go.

Unbloodybelievable....that such nonsense is even worthy of being discussed. What has happened to us ?

Just amusing ourselves with hogwash nonsense. What else is there to do in this heat?

Under article 44 what he says is law.

Orders become law.

He can order the arrest of people saying good morning if he so chooses

Phew, glad they cleared that up!

Eat rotten rice, burn your copies of "1984" and "Animal Farm", never show 3 fingers in public, delete the Marseillaise ringtone from your phone and live happily ever after.

Only on Thaivisa could someone say that after reading the report which clearly states that what was reported was a hoax and is not illegal?

Thai law - just made up as they go along.

Thaivisa members interpretation of published reports - just made up as they go along.

This was one of the ways the Nazis could tell who was a "good German" in their early days. The Nazi supporters said "Heil Hitler" while the rest said "guten tag".

I imagine after awhile, saying guten tag became a real act of subversion.

Even in north Korea you can say good morning with roses and not taken to prisen!

Thailand is turning into the wrong direction; just control everything but as you know, if someone went to control all everything you sure know he or they have to hide something!

Every day farts a bureaucrat in his chair and thinks he has worked.

As Donald Trump would say its a low energy news day.
