Yep, we got our visa in record time - 2 days! Actually we submitted the documents on Monday 6th and the issue date on the visa is the 7th - yesterday! Wow! I'm so proud of my wife and we're looking forward to our new life back in London...in the cold and rain and err....hmmm...maybe I'll stay here and let her go by herself... :o...just kidding!

Thanks to Scouse for giving me the encouragement to go ahead and apply.

The only advice I would give to others who are about to apply is to get as much evidence as possible, organise it into logical sections, label the sections and, in general, give an impression that you are of an educated background. This makes a good first impression. Secondly, read as much of this forum as you can as there is a wealth of information on here and the chances are, your case and set of circumstances are similar to many other previous applicants'.

Finally, I would like to say that I have been very impressed with the new application centre in Rajadamri. It is quick, quiet and efficient and looks rather modern too. The staff are polite. I spent a total of only 20 minutes there - 10 mins to submit and 10 mins to receive our application but left feeling that the extra service charge is well worth it.

May I suggest that you wait until she has been in the UK for 3 years and has taken out British citizenship?

If she doesn't have this and spends more than 2 years living outside the UK then her ILR will lapse and should you and she wish to return to the UK in the future, even for a visit, then she would have to apply for the relevant visa. If she is a British citizen then she can come and go as often as she wishes, just like any other British citizen.

Both Thailand and the UK allow dual nationality, so becoming a British citizen will not effect her Thai citizenship in any way whatsoever.
