Trump is not an Idiot
Save the Frogs - "Most people are still getting a lot of crap information from fake news sites". Yes Frogs, maybe you and maybe Trump too . . . Net of a US surplus with Canada on exports of 'Services', the overall trade deficit with Canada is $30-$40 billion. The claim of 300,000 people being destroyed by Fentanyl permeating the US border with Canada is ridiculous - official sources say the Canada border accounts for 1/5 of 1% of Fentanyl arriving in the US - (extrapolating that would mean that the USA has 150 million people being destroyed by Fentanyl each year). The trade deficit with Canada totals about $70 billion p.a. for goods less $30-$40 billion of US services in surplus. The US benefits enormously from the goods it imports from Canada, i.e. crude oil delivered by pipeline direct to the industrial mid-west, cheap aluminium because Canada uses hydro-power, timber etc. There is NO $200 billion imbalance and it wouldn't be a subsidy anyway. Trump is quite MAD. Clueless ! -

Skype going - voice calls - using SIP / VOIP services and clients as alternatives
I was prompted to download the new Skype alternative yesterday. They stole what credit I still had with Skype. I certainly won't be using anymore. Easier with WhatsAp Messenger and zLine and they are all free. Skype and those kind of systems are obsolete now -

Changing Non-O from consulate valid 3 months to non-O valid one year
I probably will need to leave before the 3 months is expired because I probably have to come back for work... can I apply for extension after my first week there? If not... am I better off with a tourist visa and apply for changing to extension based on marriage? -

Thai Authorities Order Closure of 55 Buildings Post-Quake
Understood. I've been here since the 1980s. I was discussing a deeper level. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak with a team of 3 engineers that inspected my condominium. I learned a few interesting things. The head engineer was a professor with a PhD in engineering and 30+ years of experience. He said the big classic Western style condominiums built in the 1990s before the financial crisis suffered little damage and are very unlikely to ever be knocked down by an earthquake. These engineers inspect everything including lifts, water tanks, and piping. Newer condos suffered much more damage. He also said something that surprised me. He said that large buildings in Bangkok were speced to survive a 7.3 magnitude earthquake, where survive means not fall down. So all three buildings that were closed or collapsed where newer. Government corruption has been here forever.
