BANGKOK: -- Join the American community of Bangkok in celebrating Independence Day with a traditional community picnic event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) at NIST International School on Saturday, July 2nd.

Held at a new central, convenient, and accessible location on Sukhumvit soi 15, this year’s event will celebrate 240 years of American independence and the 60 year anniversary of AMCHAM Thailand.

U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, Glyn Davies, will preside over a ceremony to honor the occasion.

The event will feature for sale a full American BBQ with traditional burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken wings, and pie dished out by crowd-favorites Orn the Road, Roadhouse Barbeque, Bourbon Street, Hooters, and Sunrise Tacos, as well as lighter options from the likes of Absolute Fit Food. Drinks will be provided by Beervana, Jack Daniel’s, Coca-Cola, Singha, and Bangkok Beer and Beverage.

Live bands including Ample Soul, Matthew Fischer and the Fishes, Southern Cross, Peter Driscoll and the Cruisers, and Sticky Fingers will be playing American rock, blues, and folk throughout the day and children will enjoy Mattel Land, bouncy castles, tug ‘o’war, water balloon toss and gunny sack races. Aspiring cooks will have a chance to test their chops at a chili cook-off while foodies can show their speed and stamina at a pie-eating contest.

The highlight of the event is the raffle featuring prizes such as airline tickets to the U.S. provided by United and Delta, hotel stays, jewelry, meal vouchers, and more. All proceeds from the raffle benefit the AMCHAM Thailand Charitable Foundation’s efforts to improve the quality of education in Thailand.

With live music, good food, cold drinks, and entertainment for children and adults alike, AMCHAM’s Independence Day Picnic is bound to be a fun-filled day for the whole family.
