Immigration Officer did not take departure card at exit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone might know of the implications, if any, where the immigration officer did not take the departure card from my passport as I exited Thailand.

I do have my departure stamp in my passport, but noticed I still have my departure card tucked into my passport at 30,000 feet.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jack

Sweet. That is a relief.

Mucho thanks! :)

Twice in a row recently I have arrived home in BKK still in possession of my arrivals card because it wasn't collected at Suvarnabhumi.

I think they are pretty meaningless nowadays since all the data is obtained electronically from the passenger's passport - apart from the intended address (for arrivals) and that is of limited value.

Even communist Vietnam which had an almost identical system up until 3-4 years ago now has no forms at all. The IO just asks for your arrival flight number and that's it,

Or frame it and nail it to the wall.

Keep it just in case you ever have a problem when coming back to Thailand or going out again. Its doesnt cost anything to keep it.

Hi-every time I have flown out,the airline reps took my boarding card and Thai departure card before boarding.

There will be no problem. The OP has a departure stamp in his passport and that is all that matters. Having departed the country the old departure card is of no importance.

I would be interested to know where all the paperwork for Visas, 90 Day Reporting, Re Entry Permits etc is stored/filed ?

Many years ago there is a story of a danish guy that spent a week in the immigration jail because he had his departure slip in his passport when coming back to Thailand. He had forgotten to clear immigration in Thailand when visiting a neighbouring country..

Whilst your exit was purely legal, best avoid the same scrutiny and doubt, remove it from your passport and dont worry.

Those slips probably go straight in the bin anyway.

at a guess, in a filing cabinet

More likely the bin!

you could always deal with in the old-fashioned way and mail it back to them by registered mail with a covering letter keeping a photocopy for your recordsrolleyes.gif
