Pattaya sea water quality gets 'poor' grade

Featured Replies

...and this is "News" to whom? Oh yeah...all the Thai and foreign tourists I see swimming in it every time I'm there...

Pattaya sea water quality gets 'poor' grade

' poor grade '.....I am surprised they even bothered testing it.

Condoms, sewerage, there is nothing deviant it does not have.

Be a braver man who swims in that cess pit.

When in Pattaya (not that this happens a lot) I go to Bang Saray when I want to swim.

Unfortunately the sea water there seemed almost as filthy as it is in Pattaya last time I went.

Despite us all taking showers before leaving, one person in the party has been scratching himself for a full day afterwards.

EDIT: ouch. Didn't notice the link. This thread is gone in 3...2...

Koh Larn is the only place I would swim around there

its rainy season, every time it rains the cities sewers empty into the sea. personally I have never seen condoms or sewage but I wouldnt swim in it this time of year

The water is very poor quality most of the year but I have seen it pass

for almost ok like after a big storm with heavy seas....

Swim over Jomtien always decent over there

A bit better yes, but I'm not swimming in Jomtien either...

...but that's just me.

Swim over Jomtien always decent over there

Some times but not always.

Never been in the sea in pattaya or jomtien, just go have a good look at the shit in the water.

think it could melt your foot off. sick.gif

When I first came here I knew no better and waded into the sea in Jomtien.

It only took a few minutes to realise what I was amongst.

Panty liner was the first to get stuck against my leg. Then more and more plastic bags and then I saw the dogs crapping all over the place....

Since then I don't venture in. I have been to Koh Larn and Koh Chang and the water was free of the above some of the time...

But I have since realised that Jomtien has at least 2 sewage/drain outfalls just offshore. One is about 400 mtrs out from around where the jet skis and boats pull up and launch near Soi 14. I have seen it basically bubbling to the surface.....not good.
