there is a cafe next door to the embassy compound (where the mrs can wait).  you walk right by it if you are walking from the ploenchit BTS station.  it is called 'plaisir cafe' and there is a 7-11there also.  leave all your stuff with the mrs so you can have a smooth entry/exit at the embassy.  security always smiles and thanks me for not bringing my phone.  i only bring what i need for the embassy visit.
