Just a few kebabs with lots of pork and pineapple, so delish. Can't beat these on a summer's day.

Corn on pizza is disguisting, ugh, then again where is that? They do corn on vegetarian pizzas here along with Pizza Hut's offer of the decade: Durian Pizza I kid you not.

I'm sure most of us haven't lived until we tried a big slice of durian pizza.

come on! You cannot judge for real anything Thais will call a pizza. lol

They have only just stopped from squirting some white mayo stuff on and calling it cheese

My dad used to make sauerkraut. Sometimes he'd cook a big pot of spareribs or kielbasa in it.

I could go for a hot, fat, kielbasa & kraut on a French roll with a good spicy mustard...

Side of spicy macaroni salad and a crisp pickle on the side...

I'm salivating with you there. What's really good also are cabbage rolls with sauerkraut. When the heat subsides I'll do  some as it takes a bit of prep and even with the exhaustion fans on the smell is awful ( according to my husband anyway) got caraway seeds, mustard seeds and all the other bits and pieces my mum used to put in them.

me sum too...one of the disadvantages of livin' in Asia, can't get no decent sausage and yer limited in what ye can do at home...

there useta be a grilled sausage place in Berkeley called 'Top Dog': kielbasa, bockwurst, louisiana hot links, you name it, all top quality and reasonably priced...also new york all beef franks...all on a sesame roll with 4 different kindsa mustard available and sauerkraut...heaven...two dogs would do ye fer the rest of the day...

there was a warning sign on the english mustard that said HOT! and he - man types would slather it on like any other mustard: 'ain't nothin' too hot fer me, nossir...'...entertaining to watch the result...

when i bought a hot dog in NY during my first visit i was asked whether i wanted "chili" on it. as i like spicy food i nodded and the vendor added yuckish sweet baked beans.

today i prepared slices of baby carrots to add to my Indian super hot spicy pickles by drying them in the micro and saw férking flames combined with tiny explosions! excited i called my dearly beloved old lady to show her the miracle.

her reaction: "so what? everybody knows that carrots have a high mineral and iron content. and that's what causes your miracle".

Another great miracle is putting raw eggs in little egg cups and nuking them on high for five minutes...courtesy of my eleven year old. Did you know they explode? Hahahaha

another miracle is when I was looking for my masher to mash up the beans for the frijoles...and then the step daughter heard my 'ARRGHHH' when I couldn't find it and in anticipation came downstairs and indicated a place where I had already looked and there it was...swear to god she had swiped it and had hidden it under her t-shirt...

and she then sniffed derisively and minced back up the stairs...

defeated by 'magick'...

TEXAS JACK SAUCE

2 cups Ketchup

1/4 c Tabasco

1/4 c Dijon mustard

1/4 c Jack Daniels, Hong Thong whiskey works as well.

1/4 c molasses,  Villa has it.

2TB dark brown sugar

1TB Worcestershie

1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp liquid smoke. Villa as well.

Combine and simmer for 15 min.

Lasts a few months.

Mate, I just made a batch of this. No offence Tutsi but this is an awesome BBQ sauce.

Thank you @NickJ, one for the book. Having it tonight with marinated pepper pork.

Should take hom mali with you for a friend or as something to barter with. I've been bringing back 25-30kg top quality hom mali back to the UK for my sister and her family but they are getting quite a stack in the pantry. They just eat very very little rice so I've taken to asking her friends if they want a 5kg sack of jasmine rice and they have all jumped at it. I give it away for nothing but over the years it has paid me back. One chick who works for the local council actually does Thai curries at home then sells them as lunch boxes to people in the office so she was stoked getting real rice rather than the rubbish she was using. I got my sister to give me a lift and dropped off a 10kg bag. I tried one of the lunches while I was there and it was terrible.

Getting decent Farang food is sometimes quite a chore, but well worth it in the end.

Aye, they say a meal tastes better if you had to work hard for it.

It's not only how to make something because that is a few taps away but actually finding the stuff can be a nightmare.

no probs...I offered my recipe as the poster that was interested specified no liquid smoke, which can be added to my recipe if desired as well as worcestershire and whatever...the catsup, vinegar and brown sugar provide a foundation, etc...

I'm gonna havta try the jack sauce meself as I like the idea of the addition of dijon...I'm finding that dijon is a desirable ingredient in a lot of stuff; sauces, salad dressings, etc...and they got it available at makro...

don't know when I'll ever BBQ again, though...shophouse with no garden blues...maybe use the jack sauce for the final basting of ribs in the oven...

gonna try a pizza soon...anyone ever try pizza sauce from scratch with just fresh tomatoes and spices? I managed to do a respectable pasta sauce earlier using the same and ground beef...
