For those who only eat noodle soup, it'a Cordon Bleu filled with cheese and ham, homemade fried potatoes, with onions and ham. Arroi maak.

Looks great!  I like my potatoes little crispier so I put the potato in the microwave for 6 minutes, 3 minutes per side, let it cool and then peel and slice it.  The time in the microwave not only cooks the potato but removes most of the water so that it comes out crispy.  I do french fries the same way and when I want mashed I cook the potato for 8 minutes, peel it hot and mash it.  The potatoes around here have a very high water content.

I think the two best bets for BKK room service (assuming you don’t want Thai) are pork-chop and club sandwich.

yeah...while the hotel has got a wonderful pork chop (grilled just right with tip top gravy) the burgers are inedible...gotta go up the road to Burger King...

Friends don’t let friends eat hotel burgers....

I did eat at a new burger joint the other day called “Burger Bro” that was okay. Not sure if it’s a chain or not. Decent burger, good fries, 8-10 nice self-serve sauces, pickles & free popcorn...

Made a very healthy carroty cake yesterday!  It had to be healthy as it had 6 shredded carrots in it.  Never mind the 2 cups of sugar in the batter and the 8 ounces of cream cheese, 125 grams of butter and four cups of powdered sugar in the icing.  I think I'll have a big piece after I eat a very healthy blue cheese burger and fries for Linner!

I useta make banana bread (and quite nice too) because I noticed that my wife always bought some when we went to the big tescos that has a bakery, and I always want to please my lovely wife...but then I found that I was eatin' most of it meself and that's bad news when one is overweight and diabetic and had to lay off...still got an unopened big bottle of vanilla flavoring in the cupboard fer that purpose...it must be well past it's sell by date by now...

(tutsi at the soapy in BKK: 'lay back darlin' and let me pour this all over yer body'...and then slobber, slobber, slobber; always had an aversion to wasting food...)

Slobbering vanilla extract?

Yeah, if you don’t please your wife, someone else will...

Excellent burgers to be had at Bad Burger located in the alley just west of Suk Soi 20.  A must for me when I'm up in that area.

Between Holiday Inn & Lexus?

I walk that pretty often & never saw it.

Is it new?

Incidentally, the Indian restaurant on top of that Holiday Inn is great.

Thanks, I’ll try it..

I might mention, too, that Buddy's Bar located about a block inside of Suk Soi 22 has excellent burgers as well (another location, though I haven't been there, is Suk Soi 89).  It seems obvious that it's run by a Yank as they also offer American style breakfast and some Mexican fare.  The quesadillas are very good.

Bad Burger has been around for quite a while. It's a second floor walkup via a stairwell, and the entrance doesn't front on the main road, it's just a short distance into the above mentioned side alley coming off the main road. And they don't have much visible signage on the main road, making it easy to miss.

IMHO, better than the fast food burger places, but not among the better/best available burger choices around town.

I'd be interested in your recommendations.  Are you a Yank by chance?  US has best burgers in the world, IMHO.

And thanks for adding that Bad Burgers is on the 2nd floor.  It is easy to miss.  I had forgotten to mention that.

 Yes, American...

I like several different burger places more. New York Style Steak and Burger nearby a ways down on Suk Soi 22 does some pretty good burgers, and by good, I mean their ground beef is VERY good, far and away better than BB IMHO. The price is higher (400b or so for burgers and fries), but the quality is better, and they often have discounted lunch specials available on their burgers.

And here's a surprise that I've never mentioned here before. In the ground level of Central Chidlom, at the back of the Central Grocery store there, there's a large and recently developed sit down eatery area run by Central called Food Story that has a variety of excellent farang food at terrific prices.  On the menu there is a 250b hamburger and fries menu item that has terrific beef and very good fries. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best quality to value ratio of any burger I've ever had in Bangkok. And I've had and tried MANY over the years.

The Food Story burger is cooked fresh to order, and I'd only add one caveat about that place. They seem to have trouble handling the proper doneness of the meat based on customer request. First time, I asked for medium and got rare. Repeated again. So now I always ask for well done, and I regularly get medium or so, which is what I want anyways. Not sure why that seems to be an issue for them. But their burger is good, and a steal for the price.

Here's what their burger looks like (I think I opted that day for a garden salad instead of fries):

And here's the portion of their menu that includes the burger listing, which they call their Grill Bar Burger:

2131244055_2018-03-2515_21_07.thumb.jpg.8a86c776c69d76454f5bd65497a5dfc3.jpg

PS - their reuben sandwich also listed on the above menu (and I think it also includes fries) for 250b is excellent also and likewise a terrific deal.

BTW, I've also ordered and tried their Philly Cheese Steak sandwich there, and oddly, unlike their burger and reuben, the philly was not good at all. The roll was too heavy and thick, and the sliced beef used was tough and stringy. And the cheese was fake cheese sauce instead of the real thing, unlike the real cheese they use on their hamburger. So unfortunately, I'd stay away from the Philly on their menu, despite the regular burger and Reuben being excellent.
