90days border alternative to KL

Featured Replies

Good evening everyone,

Need to leave the country to get the next 90days on my METV.

Is there any pleasant affordable alternative instead of flying out (from DMK) to KL? (Excluding journey to Poipet) Air Asia fares within this week quite high (6000thb!)

Appreciate any request!

Good evening and chockdee, krap!

  • You will only get 60 days when re-entering with a METV.

If you want an alternative land crossing from Bangkok you could use the Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchamaburi province. It costs 910 baht at the border.

Singapore might be a choice since no visa is needed for many nationalities.

All neighboring countries besides Malaysia require a visa or a visa on arrival. By land Myanmar is only a border pass to enter.

Travel cost from Hat Yai to KL are quite cheap. From Hat Yai take the bus or mini van to Padang Besar(THB 38) from there take the high speed train to KL, travel time 4hr15min, cost MYR 48 one way ~450 THB

FROM DMK to HDY several cheap flights. Why Air Asia? Better take Lion Air.

If you have time the return trip from BKK is ~ THB 4000

Also its possible to take over night travel using the sleeper train (MYR 40), very convenient. Train leave Padang Besar 19:00 arrival morning ~06:00

Trains can be booked online. I use them regularly for my flight from KL to DPS(Bali). Also Lion Airfull service, cheap and no cattle handling

You do not specify your nationality. It is relevant to the cost of various options.

One high risk option is to fly Air Asia to Vientiane and return via the transit lounge without entering Laos. There are two risks: (i) the airline may not allow it; and (ii) the immigration officer in Bangkok may decide with no Lao stamps you did not validly enter Laos. Recent reports suggest you would be able to do it, but no guarantees. Flying Monday, the cost of this would be about 3,400 baht.

Other than that, you are pretty late trying to get promotional fares, assuming I interpret your post correctly and you want to fly in the next few days.
