Business Registration For Au Visa

Featured Replies

I want to bring a friend out to Australia early in in 2007. He has a small business in Thailand but I think it is not registered. If he says he is self employed will he be asked for registration papers?. Would it be better to say he is not employed as I have gauranteed his costs, accomodation , medical insurance etc in a stat dec as well as lots of other evidence of knowing him for 18 months

For a tourist visa I would list him as self employed if it is a legit business....and declare the business name in the application....I would also include some bank statements showing his income from the business....

If he is not keeping prove of income or the business and as you are sponsoring him then I would list him as unemployed.

he needs to have some proof of income or you will get the old "no reason to return" on the refusal letter.

Thank you for the reponses. I will know soon if his is a registered busines or not. If not, any ideas on what sort of evidence I should ask him to get re reasons to return. I have read on here: letter from Head monk or official like a lawyer giving reasons. He actually has strong family ties there and I have gaurateed he will abide by the conditions and return by his ticketed date. There is virtually no chance he will over stay. He is only here for 12 days and he has a ticket stating the return date.

If you are sponsoring him and guaranteeing his compliance, he wont need proof of income....you will need to provide proof of income.....and that should also take care of the reason to return as you are taking the resposibility of his returning...this is why I advocate the use of a stat dec to guarantee the financial and general support of the applicant as against a letter....the Stat Dec is a legal document and you are bound by it.

Thanks for the info. I think I will try and get him to provide some formal document with reasons to return as well. He has only been out of the country once before (to Norway when he was younger) and of course he thinks geting a visa is easy! I should perhaps get him to mention in the document he has travelled and returned once before. Anyother suggestions as to what to put in this document appreciated

An Update -As it turned out, it seems his business is registered. He went to the Visa centre in BKK last week, talked to a lot of people and put in his application with a copy of his business registration papers and all my supporting documents. It seems all went well but he had to go for an interview the next day and a medical with an Australian Doctor.

With all that over he went back home to Nakhon Si Thammerat and has decided to have all the papers couried back to Phuket instead of going all the way back again to BKK.

They have promised to call in the next few days and let him know if he has got the visa.

Well it's been 10 Days now and he hasn't got any notification. Any ideas if it can take this long?

For a tourist visa it should have taken half the time....also usually it is not required for the applicant to have a medical or interview for a 3 month tourist visa...

this has confused me a bit...do you know of any reason why these were needed ??
