Kids Charity Project, Location Needed.

I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine who's Foundation tries to do good things for poor schools and orphanages once a year that are outside of normal help, possibly hill tribe kids.

This is not a case of bringing a few "goodies" up for the kids, they send a whole team to do renovation work. They have been doing this for over ten years now, Wat Don Chan Orphanage in CM was one of their first projects, where they supplied new blankets and clothing for the kids there, but that was in the Foundation's early years when there were only 3 or 4 volunteers, now there are usually about 10-15 many of whom fly in from Europe to be involved, and then they drive up from Bangkok to far away places that can take hours to get to so they can be of some assistance, spending 3 to 4 days working and sleeping in tents.

Last year they were in the mountains of Mae Sot, the year before that in Pattini Province. That made the local news as you don't see many foreigners in that part of the troubled country, in fact they worked with army protection most of the time..

They are looking to do something again this year in the Chiang Mai area, not in CM itself but far away in the mountains where trucks find it difficult to navigate.

So what I am asking is if anybody knows of anywhere like I have described and maybe has contact details that they could supply me with, they could then send some pictures of what they already have and the Foundation's organisers can decide which one is the most suitable.

We are NOT asking for any financial contributions from TV members, the cash comes from large companies in BK and elsewhere.

So if you know of a place in the back of beyond that could do with some help and perhaps have some contact details please pm me..

Many thanks

TP.

Please read some of the articles and you'll understand that these kids really need help.

I've found the place more by accident about 15 years ago and couldn't belief my own eyes.

Staying with some of the kids for one day and maybe building something they urgently need would be nice.

When there's no medicine available in Thailand, the Thai authorities just sent a lot of sick kids to this place. I

remember when the nice guy Father Shea who cremated two little kids on one day where nobody of these kids' families showed up.

Each and every baht will be used for these kids, there's no rip off going on. For those who're traveling Isaan, it's about 30 km away from Nong Khai, you won't regret a visit.

That's a merit that makes sense, not giving some rich monks enough money to buy a Lear Jet. wai2.gif
