There is no requirement to do the new extension application 30 days before the date it ends. The 30 days is the earliest you can do it. You could the extension on the last day if you wanted to.

As long as you put the money in the bank 2 months before the date it ends you could get the extension done.

Meaning I can deposit 2 months before end of my visa extension date, not the date I renew, right?

No I was just posting an example. The money has to be in the bank for 2 months on the date you apply.

You might be getting confused with the fact that when you apply you get a 30 day provisional extension whilst the documents are sent to Bangkok for national approval. When this is done you get your year's (well eleven months) extension after the 30 days admin period.

You can apply early but they won't stamp your extension in your passport until the expiry date of your current extension. Thus if you apply 40 days early they will tell you to come back in 70 days to see the result of your application.

That depends upon whether they start the 30 days from the date of application or from the end of the current permit to stay.

I am sure Samut Prakan starts it from the date the application is done.

yea, the boss lady in hua hin immigration told me you can now apply up to 45 days before the expiry date, and she said that i would get my visa extension 30 days after the application goes to the hua hin office.

So i will get mine back before the other one expires, which is what i need as i am leaving to visit UK for 3 weeks at the same time my current extension expires.

Last year, I did not have to wait 45+30 days, I got it on the same day as the expiration date of the extension.

The previous years, I would always get a 30 days "under consideration" stamp. Not this time.

The here is no 45 or 30 day wait. It is normal to for the report back date to be 30 days. If you went 30 days before your extension expired then is possible to get the extension stamp on the on the date it expires.

I assume that was for an extension of stay based upon marriage. Which immigration office was that at if it was?

Samut Prakarn and extension based upon marriage.

Just to correct my previous post, for my previous renewal, I would apply 30 days before or around the expiry date, and "the approval" never arrived on the expiry date. It would be a couple of days later, and was told to come back in 30 days. As I was travelling frequently this was a bit of a pain, and had to call the office to know when "the approval" was in.

Now, that I can apply 45 days before, It doesn't happen anymore.

I can see how the Samut Prakarn office has improved over the year ... as well as me getting better in preparing the application :-)
