Insurance advice

Featured Replies

Just about to make the move to Thailand, for a year at least.

As I have sold my flat in the UK, I don't think my travel insurance will be valid any longer without a UK residential address. No point in providing false info. such as a friend's address as it will invalidate any insurance.

Can anyone recommend or suggest a travel company or policy for this sort of time period?

My present one (AMEX) is for 45 days at a time, and was always OK for my 5 or 6 week trips. Now I need something that provides longer cover.

What do you guys use for cover?

TIA

Check the bupa Thailand website, they have a dedicated policy for these circumstances.

Check out the Web Pages and start e-mailing companies for Quotes.

The polices all vary slightly in coverage, limits and cost... I have personal experience of the following which all involve direct settlement with Hospitals in Thailand, World Wide Cover (except USA for the policies I have chosen).

- BUPA International (expensive - proven)

- BUPA Thailand (Maximum yearly cover limited to 5,000,000 baht)

- AXA Thailand (Moderately priced - A good alternative to BUPA)

- MHS Thailand (Moderately priced - A good alternative to BUPA)

I think you still qualify to sign up with "True Traveller". Have a look and they also respond very quickly to any inquiry you send them.

I use ACS Worldwide Insurance, a French company. It was cheaper than BUPA for better coverage.

I presume you mean bupa international and not bupa Thailand?
