I just drove by the Erawan shrine at Ratchaprasong just now.

loads of police,, road blocked,, crashed car INSIDE the temple area.

Lots of TV REPORTERS there.

Can someone let me know what exactly happened?

I'm sure it's on the news already.

First of all, congrats....a working ccv....

Secondly, how screwed is this person, hope there isnt a lynching.

Most folks ran thinking it was a car bomb i bet.

They will probably be back to deliver a thai style 100 on 1 beatdown.

To make matters worse the driver tries to reverse, making it look like an attempt to flee.

Driver had a seizure apparently.

He/she's got good aim.

Straight through the barrier's then straight through the gates.

Seizure sounds a bit personal. I'd go with the breaks failed.

I've been following this on twitter @richardbarrow. Very early on, 20 minutes after the crash, terrorism was ruled out.

But as the video shows, how could this happen?

Seizure, epilectic fit, etc..., the car was on a perfect line to hit the shrine. I hope nothing has been covered up. Just very strange how the car slotted inbetween the gated walls and at high speed.

Weird!

The odds of having a seizure and slotting inbetween the gated walls must be 1000-1

Conspiracy?

Judging from the video the police did not rush to scene (as usually reported for accidents)even though they should have been 30M away sitting at table where they are usually playing with their phones.

There is no way that someone could recover from a seizure that quickly and be able to put the car into reverse.

its probably the best excuse she could think of saying at the time.

I imagine she was either texting on her phone or distracted and lost control of the car and caused this accident.

she obviously reversed the car in case anyone was crushed between her car and the shrine.

perhaps she has epilepsy in her past (or knows someone with it) hence being able to quickly come up with that story.

if she did have epilepsy, then how did she get a Driving License ?

ThaiRath has the story. A car lost control and crashed injuring 6 people.

It's amazing that only six people were injured. In the video it looks like the car made contact with several more than that.

I can't see it well on the video but where was the security? Why didn't they drag her out of the car right after it happened?

Lately, every time I walk along the BTS Skywalk from CentralWorld to BTS Chidlom, there are cops or Army guys sitting at a couple tables placed there pretty much right above where the shrine is located. Not sure why they'd begun doing that. But they're there all the time lately.

Most normal people don't judge before they know. She had an epileptic attack.

Run a car through a fence and into a crowd of people, and most smart folks will be hoofing it in the opposite direction until the bomb squad gives the all clear. Twice as fast given the recent tragedy at that very location.

Kudos to all who stayed around to render assistance to the injured.

don't imagine because you are not any good in it. she had an epileptic attack. She had a history of that. it is weird that they still let them have a drivers license but that happens in western countries too

People with a history of epileptic attacks sometimes get to keep their drivers license in western countries too

It just happens more often in Thailand, as always

Where would I go when everything in Thailand finally becomes like in Europe.................?

The car was not out of control, and drove unerringly straight through the very small gate space without hitting either side.

I myself find it very hard indeed to believe that this resulted from a seizure. It looked like inattention/delusion where the driver aimed for the gate thinking it was a road, or an intended destination.

The truth will out eventually.
