But why does the report not show faces, or for that matter, even name the bar where this happened, or is Out Front the name of the bar on Ratbamrung Rd,

Which people exactly and why were those people banned from the Karaoke room, the young men or the ladies ???

Just another example of wasted resources, and misdirected policy. For the Thai authorities to be all of a sudden, so interested in cleaning the place up, there must be some outside influence at work. My guess it is the nefarious work of the US authorities, and their heinous NGO's. Who said the relationship has deteriorated. I believe that is strictly for public consumption. Obama can say he is not supporting a non democratic government, while the militaries still work together behind the scenes, and the promises of aid and future programs lure the little man into more terrible policy, and misdirected attempts at purity.

As some old timers probably know, there are many such places all over Thailand. 

 

In some cases just a couple of young men sitting in the back of the coffee shop in a local often upcountry hotel. I recall this when I was doing a project in Rayong some 25 years ago. My Thai counterpart (young Thai guy perhaps 30 years old) always had sex on his mind and continuously talked about sex. One evening he took me on a 'tour', including a visit to the coffee shop of a local well known perhaps 3 /4 star hotel, in the back corner 2 or 3 good looking young men. My colleague asked them to come to our table, and it was quickly established that all of them were available for either male of female customers.

 

Also many full size bars and restaurants, bar staff / waiter staff all good looking young men all well groomed, in most cases men, guatoys and ladyboys cannot enter. Some staff with shirt, some without, some with coyote dancing boys, etc. I know because one of my consulting clients (25 years ago), a very successful middle aged Thai lady owned 2 such places in Bangkok, both in the basement of hotels she owned in the Sukhumvit area, very open lady and she liked to talk in detail about this subject, she always had 2 or 3 very handsome young men (I guess early twenties) all very well dressed accompany her everywhere. They weren't bodyguards, they were good looking slim trophies. Her husband didn't care he was too busy with his large fleet of mier nois and nightly round of the big girlie massage venues. In the Rama 9 area the lady also owned a big 'no hands restaurant'. Female customer selects a meal then selects a young man to sit on her lap facing her foe 30 / 45 / 60 minutes either in bikini or nude, the man feeds the lady whilst she explored his equipment. The young man gets very big tip.

 

I have no doubt you can find similar places in many / most of the worlds major cities.

 

Are they legal here or abroad, open question.

I met a tuk tuk driver in southern Sri Lanka.  small, elderly, black as the ace of spades.  He told me he picked up a black American woman while she was stepping off a bus.   They spent the next 4 days rocking and rolling, and.......  she wore him out, but it fattened his wallet.

Whether legal or not- these type of places catering to men or women will always exist. The government, any government, trying to outlaw them is a waste of time and resources.

Same in Bali, many young and old western and Japanese women regularly visit Bali, many available beach boys.

Gee, ya think? Of course, many Thai girls prefer Thai men; just like many farang men prefer farang women. Bar girls buying drinks and even supporting their lovers is nothing new--just that too many farangs have never seen that side of it; when was the last time a bar girl even bought you a drink? Sometimes women need to be able to actually communicate and even establish a relationship; and sometimes it's strictly physical. Just like older men like younger women; older women like younger men--is that really difficult to comprehend?

Nothing new. A woman who worked at the US embassy in Vietnam 45-50 years ago had a string of Vietnamese young men as her "housekeepers."  I know two Eurp women now who come to Thailand as sexpats every year--sound familiar?  They like the young Thai/Asian guys--just like so many of us like the young Thai/Asian women. I also know quite a few Thai guys--most have their own businesses which cater to farangs. especially on the little resort islands--who specialize in "escorting" farang women. Nothing new at all.
