What are your favourite shoes to wear when knocking around in Thailand?

Featured Replies

So what are your favourite shoes to wear when knocking around in Thailand.

in Australia, I like to wear flip flops, thongs, Japanese riding boots or whatever you like to call them, mainly because I always end up somewhere along the coastline with my feet in the water.

in Thailand I like something a little bit more substantial on my feet because I never know when I might end up on the back of somebody's bike or motorcycle taxi.

what shoes do you like to wear in Thailand?

I don't see a need for my Texan cowboy boots

Mostly flip flops or Teva sandals that I order from the US.....

Leather closed sandals if going out to eat around a beach.....

Spikes/cleats a couple of times a week of playing a sport.....

When we travelled to France I took a couple of pair of hiking type shoes for day trekking....My feet were so not used to shoes it caused me some uncomfortable walking - and a couple of toenails......

yeah! surrendering the japanese safety boots, in favour of a pair of good leather sandals is a great idea

I wore expensive top range Nike's until someone borrowed them during a bangkok temple visit

Flipflops in the garden or if we go to the beach, but leather sandals beyond that. The red slingbacks with the 6" heels are only for Saturday nights.

Of course, old boy. Absolutely. White socks, (naturally) - but doesn't everyone?

Not me old boy. Wouldn't be seen in public in sandals

Not a lot of choices with my big feet. Flip flops

Im not a sandal wearer either, haven't owned a pair since I was a kid, but I can certainly see why folk wear them where it's hot.

You know what people say about folks with 'big feet' don't ya?

I don't recall seeing many large sized flip flops in LOS. You must import.

Flip flops. A different pair for every occasion, including the hong naam.

Casually is Converse(Cons as I have always called them) or Onitzuka Tiger tenny's.

I seldom ever wear flip flops here and have never in my life owned a pair of "Sandals"

I wish i could wear any shoes.

As my legs dont work anymore, just being able to wear any shoe would be a treat.

I also wanted to add I purposely do not wear or own slip on shoes of any style as I want to always tie my shoes. This will always make me bend over or kneel down and tie them. Same with putting on socks and lacing up my work boots for the yard.

At least with big feet you shouldn't blow over too easily on a windy day!

More than anything I'm suprised at how hard it is to find non-slippy (when wet) soles on sandals and flip flops - i.e. rubber soles .

Sadly, my main criteria for footwear is that they are non-slippy!

....and non-slip on all the highly polished floor tiles people seem to love

Yes, have to keep the money down my socks to prevent it being stolen by ladyboys when in Pattaya.

Only trainers or sandals, never anything else.

Airwalkers. Most comfortable shoes ever.

Birkenstock! Wouldn't think of anything else

Have you had them
Succesfully resoled in thailand ?
