Near fatality at my house yesterday (saved by the gutter)

I've noticed a leak in the bedroom during heavy rain, so got a guy (recommended by neighbour) and his young helper out to fix the problem. My house has a very steep pitched roof, almost like a chalet style, but it does give a feeling of great space inside the house. Anyway, the boss sent his young worker up to silicone the gap where the rain was supposedly coming in, and to test the waterproofness, used a hose to run water over the sealed gap. All was fine until the young guy decided to come down, his bare feet hit the wet tiles and he came tumbling down the roof. Fortunately I have steel gutters at the back of the house, only plastic at the front, and the guy managed to grab the gutter as he was going over, which slowed his fall, so he hit the cement and only cut his foot (5 stitches), but he was understandably very shaken up, and as I was later to find out, this was his first time up on a roof. The back fence is less than a metre from the back of the house and protected by savage looking spikes, so I shudder to think what the possible consequences might have been without that gutter there.

Does such a thing exist in Thailand? What about the boss having insurance for his worker?

well I dunno - I was just asking an obvious...

but. look out there on the roads

- thai hit falang car, and automatically the Thai wants falang to pay,

and I can see this as similar in concept

Maybe, you go on the offensive (take the initiative),

and approach the boss for compensation,

but hint the assumption he has Insurance to cover all the situation

Once you know if you are in the clear, repair the gutter by your own means

My story isn't about insurance, compensation, whatever, but only about the lucky escape of serious injury for the young Thai worker. The gutter has only been bent out of shape, no big deal.
